I try to use up whatever’s in the fridge before I buy other food. I don’t believe in wasting food which is why last night I fried daltjies because there was still batter in the fridge from Sunday.
I wasn’t going to make anything fried for iftar but I wanted to use the batter up rather than throw it away. We didn’t finish the daltjies but gave away what we couldn’t eat.
I also spotted these coconut bites at Woolworths and bought it. It’s got a coconut macaroon flavour which is quite sweet but it’s balanced by the dark chocolate which gives it another dimension.
For supper, we finally got around to eating the pasta – a tomato based mince sauce with pasta shells – and I made a salad to go with it. There is still some left for tonight and I’m planning to make a cheese sauce to top it with.
Oh and here is a pic of yesterday’s sehri. (All these pics were take with my phone camera hence the not-so-great quality)
What are you plans for iftar tonight? Tell me in the comments section below.
After soup, we had chicken livers with bread last night. I’ve made spaghetti bolognaise for tonight. I need to cook the night before due to getting home after 5. Will also fry some samoosas and daltjies if I have enough time. No clue what to prepare for tomorrow though, also never took anything out the freezer yet.
I’m not making any savouries tonight. Just serving the leftovers. Might make some “crackerbread pizzas” but that’s if I have time. I’m making pizza bases when I get home because I’m getting people on Saturday so want to prepare as much as I can before then so that it’s not so hectic on Saturday,
Oh man, Nasheta, now I lus for chicken livers!!
LOL Zayaan!
Have you tried chicken liver frikkadels? They’re good.
I have not. Recipe please?
I haven’t made them yet but will post a recipe when I do. Need to ask my aunt for one. Soon soon.
